In order to fully communicate with the Meramec Valley community, the District is reporting data related to positive COVID cases in the charts below. The data is current as of Friday, January 21, 2022.
The Superintendent and district nurses collect and monitor COVID positivity rates as well as staff and student attendance information throughout each day. This allows us to analyze the most up to date data to make decisions related to the COVID Response Plan. While we do our best to share accurate, timely data, please note that there is a limited supply of COVID tests available in our region. This problem causes some students and staff not being reported in the positivity rates, but are home sick waiting for a test.
Pandemic Impacts District Staffing
As of Friday, January 21, 2022 the district had 64 staff absences, with only 66.7% of these absences filled by our normal substitute staff.
How do schools cover when a substitute isn’t available to cover a staff absence?
Unfilled staff absences are typically covered by district paraprofessionals, teacher’s aides, librarians, or other certified staff members.
How do schools handle student quarantine absences?
A family may choose to keep a student home because of illness, exposure, or health concerns. Students are provided all learning materials and online resources to support short-term independent learning. Quarantined absences will be noted as an “excused absence.”
