Meramec Valley R-III School District- The Board of Education was presented a letter of resignation from Board member Dave Strong. Mr. Strong was elected by MVR-III patrons in 2018 and was re-elected in April of 2021. School district superintendent, Dr. Carrie Schwierjohn stated, “We are so thankful for Mr. Strong’s leadership and service to the students and staff of our school district. We wish him the very best and appreciate his dedication to MVR-III.”
Due to the resignation of Board member Dave Strong, effective December 8, 2021, the Board of Education needed to fill the vacancy. The Board used Policy BBE-1 “School Board Vacancies” to fill the vacant position during a Special Board of Education meeting held on Wednesday, December 8th. The Board of Education approved a process to recommend Mike Klenke to serve on the Board of Education until the position can be filled in the April 2023 election.
Klenke, an experienced Board of Education member, served on the MVR-III Board of Education from 2016 until his term was up in 2019. He was a key stakeholder in assisting the Board of Education with the District’s strategic planning for facility needs during his term. Klenke resides in Villa Ridge with his wife Jennifer. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Missouri St. Louis and serves on the Eureka Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Board of Education President, Matt Trower, stated, “On behalf of the Board of Education, I want to extend our gratitude to Dave Strong for serving on the Board for four years. Dave has been an integral part in moving our district forward and we will miss collaborating with him. We wish him well moving forward.”
