Dear Meramec Valley R-III School District,

We are emailing our staff and families to provide an update regarding the School District’s Safe Return to School Plan. The MVR-III Board of Education held a special board meeting on December 8, 2021, and decided upon the following updates to our Safe Return to School Plan, which will go into effect on Thursday, December 9, 2021.

The following MVR-III Health Protocol will be used when responding to COVID-19 identification, symptoms, and contact tracing for both students and staff:

POSITIVE COVID-19 CASE:

  • 10 days exclusion from school & extra-curricular activities from the start of symptoms AND

  • 24 hour fever free without the use of medication

  • COVID-19 symptoms are improving

  • Individuals awaiting COVID-19 test results will be treated as presumptive positive cases if symptomatic or an identified exposure to a COVID-19 case

SYMPTOMATIC AT SCHOOL:

  • School-base nurses will follow the standard school nurse protocol for symptoms

CLOSE CONTACT TO COVID-19 (including school and household exposures):

  • Contact tracing will occur for any known cases of COVID-19 exposure at school

  • Individual parents will be contacted and provided the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services recommendations, but will not be excluded from school or extra-curricular activities

  • Students and staff should self-monitor for any onset of symptoms for 14 days

MASKING:

  • All on-campus masking requirements have been eliminated. The exception is the federal mandate requiring masking on all public school transportation.

The Meramec Valley Safe Return to School Plan and other health protocols will be amended to reflect these changes and other relevant updates. An updated Safe Return to School Plan will be available on the district website and sent to all families and staff.

We appreciate your support and understanding as we continue to work collaboratively to create a safe and healthy learning and working environment for our students and staff.

Sincerely,

MVR-III School District
