Three MVR-III Schools Earn Missouri Schools of Character Recognition
PACIFIC, MO (February 4, 2025) – The Meramec Valley R-III School District is thrilled to announce that three of its schools—Nike Elementary, Robertsville Elementary, and Riverbend Middle School—have earned state recognition for their outstanding commitment to character development. This remarkable achievement reinforces the efforts of our dedicated staff, the unwavering support of our parents, and the exceptional academic and social performances of our students.
Only 98 schools nationwide and 16 in Missouri have been named State Schools of Character by Character.org and CharacterPlus, and three of those are MVR-III schools. This distinguished honor recognizes their commitment to fostering positive character in their school communities.
"We are bursting with pride for Nike Elementary, Robertsville Elementary, and Riverbend Middle School on this well-deserved achievement.," said Dr. Carrie Schwierjohn, Superintendent of Schools. "These character initiatives create a positive and supportive learning and working environment for our students and staff, fostering a culture of respect, responsibility, and empathy."
"The emphasis on character development in our schools has a direct correlation with student achievement, and this is clearly evident in our state assessment scores," added Dr. Ketina Armstrong, Assistant Superintendent. "We believe that nurturing good character is essential to academic success and the overall well-being of our students, and this recognition validates our commitment to this holistic approach to education."
