See you at school tomorrow, Scouts!

This week, Mrs. Burt's & Mrs. Gann's classes conducted a super COOL experiment with freezer pops! Ask your 2nd grade Scout about the states of matter to see what they have learned.

Yesterday, your student brought home these 2 flyers in their Thursday Folder. If your family is interested in either, please scan the QR codes in the images below to access the necessary forms.
If ordering Spirit Buttons, you can send payment to school with your child in a sealed envelope that is labeled: Spirit Buttons. Please make sure to put your student's name on the envelope, as well. Thank You!!

Nike 3rd graders have just finished up a unit on Classic Tales! During their studies, students learned about personification and how to depict it by looking for certain language used in the literature. To celebrate and review, these Scouts got to have a fancy tea party, just like in Alice in Wonderland. Pinky fingers were definitely out! ☕🍪

Students in 1st grade have been learning about fables and folktales! Such stories help increase their vocabulary and teach some valuable lessons, too. To reflect on all of their learning, these Nike Scouts got to create a puppet of their favorite character AND they got to participate in their very own Fable Olympics! So fun!!

Birthday Shout-Out!! 🥳
We are excited to celebrate with these September birthdays during their lunch breaks!

Today is the last day to sell items from the Mrs. Fields catalog fundraiser. Please have your student return the paper order form and all payments to school tomorrow, September 24th.
Thank you to our Scouts and their families & friends for supporting our school. We appreciate you all so much!! 💜

See you at school tomorrow, Scouts!

Nike kindergarteners have been learning about nursery rhymes and fables. Students learned songs, sequenced story events, and identified the characters found in these short rhymes and tales. To celebrate their learning, students participated in the Nursery Rhyme Olympics. They raced like Tortoise and Hare, helped Bo Peep find her lost sheep, jumped like Jack over candlesticks, put Humpty Dumpty back together, and more. How fun!!

Nike Scouts in 3rd grade have been learning about Missouri geography and recently created their own maps! Mrs. Guenzler and Mrs. Branstetter helped their students make and form salt dough maps, which were colored to show different aspects of Missouri. Three major cities were marked, 2 larger rivers were drawn, and regions were shaded in to give an adequate representation of our state. Way to go, 3rd Grade!!

Nike staff and students have started something new this year- Class Families!
Today, our Scouts joined up with other students from various grades to spend some time together and make connections with one another. During this time, teachers led an introduction meeting and read the book, Our School is a Family. Students participated in a group activity and gathered for a Class Family photo, which will be framed with a background of their signatures. We are so excited to continue our Class Families events throughout the school year! Having these opportunities will promote a sense of welcome amongst all of our students and staff, allow for leadership roles & guidance from older students, will help us grow together, and will only confirm that each one of us is an important piece to the Nike puzzle! 🏫🧩🏫🧩🏫

Friendly Reminder!! There is NO SCHOOL for Students tomorrow- Friday, September 20th.
Staff will be participating in trainings & meetings during their Professional Development Day.
Thank You!!

Fairy Tales & Tall Tales 👑🏰
2nd graders in Mrs. Burt's and Mrs. Gann's classes have been learning about these kinds of stories. Students discussed the different elements of a story, characteristics found in these types of stories, and even did a little comparing and contrasting of the two. Today was quite the celebration for them, as they got to dress up fancy and write their very own stories! We were ROYALLY proud of their work today!!
