ECC Meet

The PHS Speech Team has had an exciting and successful week, starting with their performance at the annual conference meet hosted by East Central College. The team claimed top honors, winning the coveted sweepstakes first-place trophy. Several individuals also medaled in their respective events, showcasing their skill and dedication.

Ben Hirschvogel earned 3rd place in Extemporaneous Speaking, and Wyatt Schaecher took 3rd place in Radio Speaking. Aiden Ashe secured 2nd place in Humorous Interpretation, while Bella Ferrario earned 2nd place in Prose. Sophie Peters also brought home 2nd place in Radio Speaking. Wyatt Schaecher finished 2nd in Original Oratory.

First-place finishers included Lexi Nixon in Informative Speaking, Christian Everhart in Extemporaneous Speaking, Mira Carroll in Prose, Keira King in Poetry, and Kylee Myers in Original Oratory. Maleah Gerdes and Ella Babb claimed 1st in Duo Interpretation, while Lyla Lloyd and Kylee Myers tied for 1st place in Storytelling.

The team’s success continued the following Saturday at the School of the Osage Invitational Tournament, where six team members competed against over 25 competitors in each event. Aiden Ashe earned 3rd place in Humorous Interpretation, Kylee Myers took 3rd in Original Oratory and 2nd in Storytelling, and Keira King earned the top honor, taking home 1st place in Poetry.
