First grade had perfect weather for their field trip to Shaw’s Nature Reserve on Friday. The kids really enjoyed the walk and learning how we can use our five senses in nature.

Students in 1st Grade Music have been learning about rhythms. After clapping the rhythms, they read "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom" and figured out the rhythm of the words using ta and titi. Students realized clapping "titi titi ta ta" was the same as clapping to "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom".

Earlier this week, we had very special guests join us at Coleman Elementary. Students had the opportunity to invite grandparents to join them at school for an afternoon of fun. We appreciate everyone who was able to attend.

Today, the students and staff celebrated Heroes Day at Coleman Elementary. Local policemen, firemen, and paramedics were invited to eat lunch and spend quality time with our students at recess. We really don’t know who had more fun. This day was about developing relationships, celebrating, and thanking these individuals for the sacrifice they make every day to keep us safe. You all are Difference Makers!!

Mentos + Diet Coke = Explosion!Kindergarten read the book
"My Mouth Is a Volcano". They talked about respecting others when they are talking. Along with, how to stop from ‘erupting’ or interrupting when others are talking!
Great life lessons being taught with our students.

Mark your calendars for next week.

This week in Mrs. Watson's 3rd Grade class. Students participated in The Cup Challenge. Groups had to create a cup pyramid from a stack of cups using only a rubber band and string. To complete this challenge students had to use communication skills, collaborate with their team, be creative, think critically, and have resilience when things weren’t going their way. They had a blast and all groups were a success.

It was a great first day of school at Coleman Elementary!

Back to School Night was a great success. We are so excited for the 23-24 school year to start.
