Coleman Elementary makes an effort each year to raise awareness and funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Monica Moore, school counselor, unites the Coleman School community to make an impact on blood cancer research. Moore said, “Students make a real impact on educating others about the disease.” Coleman raised $2,918 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society adding them to the Hero Squad for the 2020 fundraising year. Moore used students to lead Coleman’s fundraising efforts this past fall by having them create videos on how their peers can make an impact on the disease. After the fundraising efforts were complete, the school held a celebration to acknowledge their efforts. This is the second consecutive year that Coleman Elementary has been named to the Hero Squad.
